Spanish molecular orientated PVC pipe producer Molecor has launched the first 630 mm diameter PVC-O pipe. The TOM brand pipe is produced on Molecor's M OR P 3163 inline pipe orientation equipment at the company's own pipe production company in Mejorada del Campo near Madrid.

Australia green building rules revised in favour of PVC
The body encouraging development of more environmentally friendly buildings in Australia has revised its previously negative view on PVC materials.
The Sydney-based Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) said its new system for rating the plastic should be in force by April following a review that ended in February and considered advances made by the PVC sector.

June 29 2009 - The Village Board of the small town of Cassadaga in New York State reviewed plans to upgrade their water supply. Project engineer Greg McCorkhill outlined his latest plans for the Cassadaga Village Board. These plans call for alternate pipe materials, between ductile iron and PVC.

PVC pipe market predicted to accelerate in the United States
PRW magazine have reported that plastics are forecast to see the fastest growth rate of materials used to make large diameter pipes in the US over the next few years. According to leading international business research company, Freedonia Group, demand for plastics pipe is set to rise from around 12.5 million metres in 2007 to around 16.5 million metres in 2012. This growth of over 5.5% per annum is an acceleration of the rate of 3.4% shown in the 2002-2007 period.

The Chlorine Chemistry Division, in partnership with the Vinyl Institute, has completed an economic analysis of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in the U.S. and Canada. The study found that PVC products save U.S. and Canadian consumers over $20 billion per year.
